Welcome to Children of The Lord Christian Daycare & Preschool!

A Letter From Our Director, Mrs. Shanna Hunter:

I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Shanna Hunter and I am the Director/Administrator of Children of the Lord Daycare. I am a 41-year-old, happily married, Christian woman and I enjoy spending time with my husband every chance I get as well as serving in our local church, Living Word Christian Church. I have worked in the early child care and education field since 2004 and as the COTL Director since December 2014. It has definitely been a huge learning curve, not always easy, but now I love it and always look forward to going to work each day! This is my passion and my calling.

My philosophy on early care and education is simple. Do it right the first time, every time! I will always do what is required, I will not cut corners, and I will strive to go above and beyond to further the early childcare field. There is always room for growth and as a Director/Administrator in this field, I feel that I have been handed the keys to influence change. I will push, ask questions, and seek out what needs to be done to make early care and education better in my small part of the world which in turn will influence changes in our nation.

There is no “I” in team, and as a leader I know I cannot do this alone. I will always push my staff to do better, show them their potential, and encourage them to do what is in the best interest of the children in their care. I feel passionate about taking care of the staff under my care and I will do whatever it takes to help them, even personally, if it’s in my power to do so. I will be an ear to listen, a hug if needed, and will give advice if asked. I believe it should start with taking care of the staff, which in turn helps them improve the way they care for the students in their classrooms.

My goal will always be to provide excellent, quality care for each student that attends our center. I will be there for each family because they are entrusting us with the care of their child. I will always find ways to connect with the families, which in turn helps them feel welcome and comfortable to come to me with ideas, concerns, or praises for the staff. The families that send their children to our center, “the clients”, are why we are in business. Excellent customer service is essential in attributing to quality care in the early childhood field which in turn comes back to the staff. This all comes down to my original statement: Do it right the first time, every time! There are no excuses, just do it the way you know you are supposed to all the time.

We are in the midst of doubling the center in size and it has been quite the learning curve! The more I am involved with my staff and the children and their families we serve in our community the more I want to help them and come up with better ways to be a blessing. I show my staff that I “have their back” and I do whatever I can to make their job easier. In this way it helps them to provide the best care to the children in our center. Being a “hands on” director allows me to show the staff how to do it the right way, correct anything that needs to be immediately, and give ideas and get feedback continually. This in turn will help our center continue to be a quality child care center!

I choose not to be complacent or satisfied with the status quo. It’s time to go above and beyond what is required of us and think outside the box. I am looking at what ways we can: create a more engaging learning environment for the children, more beneficial training for the staff, and how to be a better unified front... parents and staff together to help all children within the sphere of our influence.

I cannot wait to meet your family!

Sincerely,

Shanna Hunter
